For a 143 year old company, opening a second location is a pretty big decision.
On April 29th, 2010, we bought the assets of our former competitor, RA Belliveau Building Supplies and will reopen a retail store in that location in Church Point. (It has been closed since November 2008)
There have been lots of rumors since we bought the store as to what we are planning to do. I've found it interesting and amusing to listen to the many rumors, knowing which were true and which were false.
To answer some of the talk that has been going on.
Yes - we are reopening the location and it will be a hardware and building supply store. It is our intention to increase our level of service to the Clare area and to our local contractors.
No - we are not closing our Meteghan Center location to move to the new one. We will run both stores. We also believe both stores will work well together and complement each other's offerings.
However, do not expect to find the same old RA Belliveau store. We are investing heavily to renovate this location. When completed, this new location will have more retail space then we currently have in Meteghan Center, and will have most items needed for renovation or new home construction.
We will run this location as UJ Robichaud TIM-BR Mart Church Point. Sorry, but the old name of RA Belliveau Building Supplies will no longer be used.
As one of our customers, you can expect to use your same account at either store and to receive only one statement at the end of the month. You will then be able to pay your account at the store of your choice. Expect the same level of customer service and low prices that you are already used to.
The store will not be a bargain/discount outlet. This store will sell #1 quality products at competitive prices. #2 products such as roofing, plywoods and more will still be available for sale at our Meteghan Center store.
Are we going to create new jobs? Absolutely, we expect the creation of 6 to 10 new jobs in the Clare area before the end of the year. If you are interested in being part of our team, send me a note or come see me.
Green - lots of rumors about the store being environmentally friendly. Yes, we are investing to make this store very green. But I can't tell you all the details just yet.
When will the new store open? Ideally before the end of this year, but a spring 2011 opening is acceptable as well.
